Introduction

The project carried out by Maria Gigante allowed the restoration and recovery of an ancient rainwater collection system, known as a "roof cistern." This type of structure, used in centuries past, was used to store rainwater and represents a precious example of traditional hydraulic techniques no longer in use.

The roof cistern demonstrates a sustainable way of living and transforming the environment. Like all knowledge passed down over time, this one also preserves fundamental instructions for a balanced development of the territory. Its restoration has two important advantages: it allows for the collection and conservation of rainwater and helps to reduce the problems caused by excess water and flooding.
